About Our Administrator
Janel F. Johnston is a service-focused professional with over 20 years of community development experience. She has a strong commitment to aiding the needs of disadvantaged populations. Repeatedly, she demonstrates her proficiency to support those during times of transition with referral and linkages to community resources.
In 2005, Ms. Johnston graduated from Bloomfield College with an undergraduate degree in Sociology. Backed by solid credentials Janel is skilled in building community support, key coalitions and strategic interagency partnerships.
In 2009, she earned a certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Bergen Community College Continued Education Division accompanied by respective HUD Assisted Housing Manager and Occupancy Specialist Certifications.
Janel believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential. She works diligently to uphold a reputation for her integrity, initiative and has a result-driven work ethic.
In 2010 she founded N The Meantime, a community-based organization that was awarded a 2012-2013 fee-for-service contract with Bergen County Workforce Investment Board to provide Case Management services for those receiving TANF/GA and SNAP benefits. She is exceptional at organizational planning, designing high-quality, cost-effective and comprehensive programs.
In 2019, Johnston, cofounded the nonprofit POP - Prevention Opportunity Preparation. Well-known in the City of Englewood and Greater Bergen County for providing hope to very low to moderate-income households.
To date Ms. Johnston continues the legacy of service by revamping N The Meantime to be an outstanding Community Development Corporation.
